Faye Carey trained as an artist first in Canada, then in the UK at Wimbledon School of Art, and completed an MA in Art History at Goldsmiths. She qualified as a psychotherapist in London, and then completed a doctorate in Psychoanalytic Studies, on the relation of images and words.
Faye has worked for many years at Chelsea School of Art, first as a visiting teacher, then as principal lecturer and course director in Public Art.
Faye’s drawings and paintings mainly reflect the experiences that are evoked by built spaces. The collages are more abstract expressions of those experiences.
Since retiring from teaching in 2005, Faye continues to live in London, dividing her professional time between her South London studio and private psychotherapy practice.
